On Sunday, April 24, book group will discuss Klara and the Sunby Kazuo Ishiguro at St. Matthew’s at 2:30 p.m.
Klara, an Artificial Friend designed to be a playmate for real children, has outstanding observational qualities. From her place in the store, she watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse and those who pass on the street outside, while waiting for a customer to choose her. This luminous tale offers a look at our rapidly-changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: what does it mean to love?
Save the date: On May 22 we will discuss The Pioneers: The Heroic Story of the Settlers Who Brought the American Ideal West by David McCullough.
